As a teacher, Anja Pavlova is bringing together 20th century authentic Jazz and Blues dance and classic Burlesque. Focusing mostly on the history of dance and music, she brings an approach that is both academic and fun, working to help her students develop their own vision and feeling of Burlesque. Over the last 8 years Anja has traveled the world not only teaching, but never passing on an opportunity to take a class herself and to perfect the art of the dance and the understanding of the music.

Introduction to Seduction!

The world of burlesque is magical and marvellous and most importantly, available for everyone. This class is focused on discovering the history of the art of tease as well as on the very basic things such as poise, grace, perfect walk in high heels, beautiful poses and overall radiating self-confidence. We discuss vitally important questions like how to feel absolutely fabulous and carry yourself with grace in every situation in life, how to look great on pictures, what are “pasties” and how do they stay on, who created burlesque fan dance and who was the first girl to use a gigantic Martini glass. And many, many other things.

Duration of class - 1,5 to 3 hours.

No previous dance or burlesque experience needed. 

Suitable for hen parties, birthdays and as a taster class for swing dance events.

Art Deco Elegance.

Early 20th century was an incredibly wonderful time for performing arts, with the new ideas of human body and sensuality, that never existed before. In this class we will look for inspiration in turn-of-century Paris cabarets, Weimar Berlin nightclubs and Chicago ballrooms, with early showgirls, vamps and flappers as our icons, and discover the style of movement, the sensuous grace, and the poise of the 1920s queens of the stage. This class is dance-oriented, but definitely beginner level, mostly focused on poses and slow elegant movement.

Beginners 1920s Charleston!

This class is focused on the authentic 1920s jazz dance and the feeling behind it. We discover the simple beauty of the jazz music, learn a bunch of fancy moves (including the basic Charleston, Black Bottom, Snakehips and a bunch of others) to incorporate into a burlesque act or to simply have fun on the dancefloor and talk a bit about history of jazz music and dance in their early years.

No previous dance experience needed. 

Duration 1,5 to 3 hours.

Introducing Solo Blues dance.

Blues music can be incredibly sensuous and sultry, but how do we express this feeling with dance? In this class we discover the beauty of different kinds of blues music, learn to open up our hips and shoulders, to be slow and to get our mojo workin' with a few beautiful moves that can be incorporated in a blues-y burlesque routine or used on a dance floor.

Previous dance experience is welcome but not necessary.

Duration 1,5-2 hours.

Burlesque Musicality.

We all use music in our acts, and we all agree that a well-selected tune can make a whole lot of difference. But how do we choose this music and how do we work with it to create magic and excitement for our audience? How does it affect everything we do on stage? In this class we listen to a lot of music and discover what is the most exciting and what is the most sensuous sound and how to make even a simple glove peel into a Hollywood blockbuster.

his class is best suited to those with previous burlesque experience who want to deepen their understanding of music.

Duration 1 - 1,5 hours.

Private workshops and coaching.

Over the years, Anja Pavlova has taught many hours of private and mini-group classes on the variety of themes, from beginner burlesque to act development for new burlesque performers, costuming, stage makeup, etc. 

Private workshops and coaching sessions are available in person or via Skype. 

Flexible rate begins at 70€/hour.
